ISBE - Gifted Education Seminar
A comprehensive overview of gifted education and classroom differentiation strategies for ANY teacher K-12. Framed by an overview and conclusion, the course examines five major areas over 45 hours of instruction: characteristics of diverse gifted learners; perspectives on giftedness; identification instruments and procedures; social and emotional needs of gifted and talented students; differentiated instruction and flexible grouping; and curriculum models. Emphasis is placed on practical application of theoretical princples, and inclusion of underrepresented populations is continually addressed.
This training will be 36 hours of face to face participation and 9 hours of work on a USB drive that is completed independently (each participant will receive the USB drive).
Participants will receive; "Achieving Excellence Educating the Gifted and Talented" by Frances Karnes & Kristen Stephens and "Differentiation: Simplified, Realistic, and Effective" by Bertie Kingore.
