Using the Chana School Museum to Teach Reading, Writing & Math
Ogle County provides many natural and historical experiences for all classrooms. One of our favorite is the renovated Chana School Museum in Oregon, built in 1883.. Join us for a week of local history as we use this local jewel to teach essential outcomes in math, reading, writing and science. This course will introduce educators to “the way it was” in rural schools using hands-on and minds-on activities, lectures, visuals, original textbooks, field trips, and group discussions-- we will go back in time together! These activities will then be aligned to the Illinois Learning Standards along with providing and opportunity for teachers to use the resources at the site toward their own district and classroom essential outcomes. Join us for our local field trip for teachers. $150.00 for Lee/Ogle SIP Coop members; $375 for non-members.
